Case Studies

We've been a client of Paul's since he started and I thoroughly recommend him and his team for their fantastic level of service and technical know-how.

Paul Mclaren

Finance Director, Financial Services

I'd like to recommend ThirdByte to anyone looking to employ an able and willing service company. We've been with ThirdByte for five years and have been very  pleased them.

Angus Fraser

Clerk, Not for Profit Livery Company

ThirdByte look after out entire IT function. I recommend them for their support service and timely advice. We often call on them last minute and they never fail to deliver.

Craig Goodman

Director, Charity Publishing

8 years ago a CSM Director called us in to modernise their entire IT estate. The Director already knew us, he was – is a trustee of a charity we already work for. After a programme of rolling out new workstations and servers and moving some services to the cloud the client enjoys a very reliable and secure data infrastructure. 8 years on we continue to manage and support them with the same energy and passion.

Civil Society Media is the UK’s only independent media company dedicated solely to supporting the charity sector.  They deliver essential information, expert analysis and thought leadership through high-quality printed and digital publications, training courses, and live events.

With over 3TB of business-critical data, three virtual servers, and over 30 workstations. 8 years ago the company moved their IT responsibility from a capable but single in-house IT guy to ThirdByte.

Like many SMEs, Civil Society Media were using backup tapes to secure their data, and like many SMEs, they found it very hard to manage this effectively. Once-a-day backup meant their Recovery Point Objective was far too high. Additionally, their tape vendor would run software updates overnight, without warning. This could cause their backups to fail, so Civil Society Media was regularly in danger of losing 24 hours of data.

For Civil Society Media’s Financial Controller, oversees many of the businesses’ key functions, including HR and IT. The risk of downtime and the negative effect it would have on the whole business, from sales to shipping – and I.T. – concerned.

The Honorable Company of Master Mariners, a London Livery Company based in London’s Victoria. The Clerk found us via Google and called us in for a chat. They were facing numerous challenges with backups, file management and email use especially whilst travelling. ThirdByte migrated nearly all their data to the cloud reducing the dependant IT hardware and simplifying support and management.
